A Offspring is an American popular punk rock band from Orange County, California that originally formed in 1984, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Dexter Holland, Kevin 'Noodles' Wasserman (also on guitar), bassist Greg K., Ron Welty on drums, and backup vocalist/guitarist Higgins. Inside 2003, Ron Welty left the b& and was replaced by Atom Willard.

Background
Although their number 1 album, The Offspring, was very similar to late 1980s punk, the next album, Ignition, saw them move out of additional traditional punk, running into a punk of the mid-1990s with songs like "Dirty Magic". It was 1994's album, Smash, that brought Offspring into the mainstream; it sold terminated eleven million copies worldwide. Along using Green Day's Dookie, it is considered to use at times catalysed a punk revival of the 90s.

Around 1996, The Offspring soured ship from either Epitaph Records and signed with Columbia Records. Several punk purists criticized this guide, feeling that the Offspring sprang from either an independent to a major label, solely for financial benefit. All the same, vocaliser Dexter Holland, in the letter to the fans, stated that it left because Epitaph's creator was ingesting immoral actions & was caring exclusively all about benefit; & that a contract it signed sustaining Columbia was for less money.

It freed their watch as much as Smash around 1997, entitled Ixnay on the Hombre. A commercial profits of this record was somewhat unsatisfying, lone running in to sell 4 million copies.

In every album, the Offspring tend to have a couple songs according to todays social/political subject matter, a testament to their tinny roots. Songs rather "Jennifer Lost the War" & "Kill the President" on The Offspring, "L.A.P.D." in Ignition, "It'll Be a Long Time" & "Not the One" in Smash, & "Meaning of Life" & "Change the World" in Ixnay on the Bozo, communicated a band's general positiin on a few issues, although a band has non been known to exist as outspoken or even particularly politically active, it did release a track 'Baghdad' on the foremost Rock Against Bush compilation released by Fat Wreck Chords.

Inside 1995 the band formed their own record label, Nitro Records. A label has freed works by several chintzy groups, including AFI and The Damned. (A Offspring use record sleeve of "Smash It Up" per Damnably & "Total Immortal" by AFI, each freed when singles.)

Although Smash was a album that number one brought A Offspring major commercial profits & recognition, it was a release of the individual "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" from either a 1998 album Americana which established the band as a regular feature in MTV and in the pop stock and index charts.

A band's virtually all recent studio album is Splinter, which draws inspiration from their older works. the band has besides recently freed a greatest hits album, unsurprisingly entitled: Greatest Hits, which was released in June 21, 2005. A number 1 individual from either which is "Can't Repeat". A band is likewise working around their eighth album of newly poop which is slated for release old in 2006. Both sources ([http://www.pauseandplay.com/15november2005.htm Pause & Play] and [http://www.tophitsonline.com/newreleases.htm Top Hits Online]) keep close at hand declared that a album was supposed to become freed around November 2005. Notwithstanding, a hearsay turned to become faithlessly, based in source ([http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/offspring_new_album_delayed.html Ultimate-Guitar.com]).
